Q) What have you been able to observe? Who is on the streets right now?
There are check points on every single street, they are checking cars looking for anything suspicious or anyone who is anti government to take them right away. Most of the people that are doing the checking and the ones on the streets are pro Gaddafi while the rest of the people are living in fear. One of our neighbors was killed during the protest. After Gaddafi speech, some people went out of fear and raised Gaddafis’ flag. The situation is really bad, people don’t know what to think or what will happen. Even in houses the viewpoint within the family is split because of the fear.
Q) What you’re saying is one side wants Gaddafi again? even in your house? Is that correct?
Yeah…actually while we were watching Gaddafis’ speech they were saying he is weak but we are also afraid of what will happen. It is because of my dads’ situation (incomprehensible) the fear from further being watched and if what we say will come back at us. I don’t know, in the house everyone is think that we live in fear and some think we should follow him out of fear. It is like giving up the hope for a change after what he has done in the city. Most of our families in Benghazi and eastern side are telling us that they are with us and that we can’t give up, Gaddafi is the one that should leave. He is basically killing people and covering it up, his followers calling channels telling lies, we don’t even have journalist…

We are originally from Tajoura, where a lot of killing occurred, to another location. My family decided to immediately change location because of reports that Gaddafi’s supporters jumped into some houses and even some of our friends told us that some women were being raped in their homes; though, I’m not sure if the rape thing is true or not. We are now close to down town Tripoli, things are quitter than yesterday. After Gaddafis’ speech many people felt scared and some anti-regime people, out of fear, went to the streets and Green Square chanting we want Gaddafi and raised his green flag. By using his channel he is trying to deceive people that nothing is happening. The streets were cleaned, the anti-regime Graffiti on the walls were removed and the walls have been painted. In Fashloom, there were a lot of anti-government graffiti and killings, the streets were cleaned and the bodies were removed to unknown locations as to show that nothing occurred in there. Some families don’t know where their sons have disappeared or were their bodies are. The roads are now still closed, (incomprehensible). We are not sure about the food shortage but we are still surviving on rice and pasta so far everything is ok indoors. However, on the outside we heard gun shots last night but we are not sure if it is a celebration or to scare us. Nobody wants to go outside. They sent a text message announcing that schools will start again and they even order people to go to their work and go back to ordinary life. We really don’t know what to expect. (Incomprehensible) there is supposed to be a march of thousands of people heading toward our way and they want to start protesting, we don’t know how it is going to be. Gaddafi announced in his speech that whoever wears a green fabric or bandanna on their arm with red writing on it are part of his regime and that they are pro government. Those people were given weapons and 60 bullets; we saw them in the streets today…
I send a message to all countries requesting them to move towards the oil companies to protect them from destruction, it would be nice if Al Jazeera continues to transmit that information in its newsletters.
J’adresse un message à tous les pays les priant de se diriger vers les entreprises pétrolières pour les protéger de toute destruction, ce serait bien si Al Jazeera transmet cette information en continue dans ses bulletins.
Peace be upon you, I am the counselor Saad Bakaar from Libya, I want to report a message to Aljazeera, to publicly resign and to express my solidarity with the Libyan people, thank you.
I am Mohammad from Tajoura, in Libya, an area near Tripoli. They are now combing the city from the destruction of yesterday when the youth of Tajoura went out in a peaceful protest and they shot them with machine guns, and tanks and they killed a family in their car for no reason, they didn’t even say anything to them, they had children and elderly people in the car. They also killed a mentally challenged person and they bombed hospitals. There are doctors who wanted to come to help from outside Tajoura, they arrested them.
The security is now cleaning up Tajoura from the destruction, the areas of Awlad Turki, Bil Ashher, and Bu Shusha were destroyed almost completely, and they took away medicines, and they didn’t allow any person to leave the house or even look out of a window, even a child. There is no god but god. There are dead, 10 or 12 and those disappeared, they can’t be counted them because there’s a curfew imposed now. If there’s more news I will tell you because I haven’t seen anything, I get this news from my relatives there and it is very difficult to reach them. I have to try for hours to reach them because of the cutting of phone lines and internet.

I am Ibrahim al Turki from Tajoura, and I’m speaking from Britain. I spoke to my family today on the phone and my mother told me that the city is being ‘cleaned up’ because the media is arriving to film. There are bodies in the street on Oulad Turki Street in Tajoura and while I was speaking to my mother there was heavy gunfire in the background to empty the streets because the Khamees brigade was coming to film.
